The Mountain West CTR-IN is Calling All Reviewers

12 March 2015

The CTR-IN is seeking reviewers with experience reviewing clinical or translational research proposals for the NIH or other national funding program (American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, NSF, etc.) We are seeking reviewers that will:

  • Participate in an orientation conference call,
  • Review proposals and submit reports within 4 weeks,
  • Participate in a study-section conference call.

We are planning a one day, in-person meeting in Las Vegas, to orient reviewers to the CTR-IN Pilot Grant Program - the evaluation rubric as it should be applied in this environment, and the online review system.

Approximately 50 brief proposals (Specific Aims and Research Strategy sections limited to 5 pages) will need expert scientific reviews.

We are recruiting 20 to 30 qualified reviewers with review panel experience and expertise in the following areas:

Biomarkers - Cancer - Cardiovascular - Community Engagement - Environmental Health - Gastrointestinal - Health Systems - Immunology/Autoimmune - Metabolic/Obesity Research - Neurodegenerative

Patient Centered Outcomes - Research - Physical Therapy/Body Mechanics - Prevention - Public health - Traumatic Brain Injury - Vulnerable Populations - Women’s Health

Each reviewer will be responsible for up to five proposals. The review criteria and format are those established by the NIH (Overall Impact, Significance, Approach, Investigators, Environment, Protection of Human Subjects, Vertebrate Animals, Biohazards, and Budget). The proposals will be distributed in early April, 2015 - with reviews due about 4 weeks later. If you have what we are looking for, don’t hesitate, sign up now!

The CTR-IN will provide a Reviewer Fee of $75 per proposal

All reviews will be completed online, utilizing a state-of-the-art system designed to make the process easy, quick, and efficient.

About the Mountain West CTR-IN: Hosted at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), our CTR-IN is supported by the NIH through the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) under the Institutional Development Award (IDeA) program. The IDeA CTR awards are focused on the development of clinical and translational research capacity in IDeA states. The Mountain West CTR-IN will accomplish this by providing a range of services that will help investigators with faculty appointments at partner institutions develop the skills and expertise to conduct clinical or translational research.
