Description: The EIRA (Epidemiological Investigation of Rheumatoid Arthritis) Study aims to investigate possible risk factors of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It is the first, and to date, the most ambitious project of its kind, including both genetic and environmental factors. The main goal of this research project is to increase the understanding of which factors contribute to the development of this disease.

Annmarie Wesley has her Masters in Public Health and is a Doctoral student in the EIRA project at the Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet, in Stockholm, Sweden. Her research is focusing on how BMI, fatty fish consumption and physical activity are associated with the risk of developing RA. During her studies, she has also been involved in setting up a new study, investigating possible environmental and genetic factors associated with the course of RA.

This event was broadcast live and recorded using Blackboard Collaborate. Technical support was provided by the RMATRIX Biomedical Informatics Key Function.
