This course is aimed at graduate students and researchers in the life sciences field and covers the following core scientific computing skills:
- The Unix (Linux/Mac) shell
- Introduction to programming in Python
- Tracking changes and sharing work efficiently using Git and GitHub
Although the course is suitable for beginners, some prior knowledge of basic
programming or scripting concepts will be greatly beneficial. Date, Time and Location:

Tuesday, June 23 9:00am - 5:00pm
Information Technology Center (Room TBD) Requirements:
Participants must bring a laptop with a few specific software packages installed (list will be available soon). Alternatively, 10 laptops pre-installed with required software will be available for users to borrow during the training period. You can reserve one by emailing the workshop organizers. Cost:
A $20 refundable deposit is required from each registrant. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received less than 48 hours prior to the event.
