Seminar/Event Detail2011-12 Public Health OPHS Colloquium Series: The CHL Program - Capacity-Building and Environmental Change to Prevent Childhood Obesity in the Pacific RegionDate/Time: 08 March 2012, 12noon - 1pm Description: This presentation will provide background and overview of the USDA-funded Children’s Healthy Living (CHL) program. This will include a description of the approach to build childhood obesity prevention capacity across the U.S. Pacific Jurisdictions (Alaska, American Samoa, Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, Freely Associated States of Micronesia, Guam and Hawai’i). Additionally the concept and design of a community based randomized controlled intervention trial in the region will be described. Dr. Novotny is Professor in the Department of Human Nutrition, Food & Animal Sciences (HNFAS) at CTAHR, University of Hawai’i at Manoa and is Principal Investigator of the CHL program. Dr. Nigg is Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at JABSOM University of Hawai’i at JABSOM, Hawaii-Manoa and is the CHL Intervention lead.
